Best time to shoot

Golden Hour (our favorite)

  • Start about 45–75 minutes before sunset for soft, flattering light and glowing backgrounds.
  • We’ll angle locations to keep you out of harsh light while still getting that glow.
  • If you love city lights, we can push slightly later for a few dusk shots.

Other great options

  • Early Morning: similar softness to golden hour with fewer crowds.
  • Open Shade / Overcast: perfect for even skin tones and color. Cloudy days photograph beautifully.
  • Indoor / Studio: consistent light, weather-proof, and great for minimal, editorial looks.

What to wear

Simple, flattering, coordinated

  • Neutrals and earthy tones age well. Add depth with textures (knits, linen, denim, layers).
  • Avoid neon/ultra-bright colors and busy micro-patterns (they can cause moiré on camera).
  • Skip large logos/graphics—your faces are the focus.
  • Fit matters: choose pieces you can move in; avoid anything that needs constant adjusting.
  • Footwear that matches the location (heels sink in grass; bring flats as backup).

Finishing touches

  • Steam or iron clothing; empty pockets (phones/wallets show as bumps).
  • Hands show in photos—neat nails help. Bring lip balm/powder for shine.
  • Hair down or loosely styled moves nicely with light wind; bring a brush/clip.
  • Glasses: if you have a non-glare pair, bring it; otherwise we’ll work angles to avoid reflections.
  • Kids & pets welcome—bring treats, a favorite toy, and a lint roller.

What to expect

Before & during

  • We’ll send a quick prep note + location pin and meet there. Sessions usually run 45–75 minutes.
  • We guide you the whole time with simple prompts—no modeling required.
  • One outfit change is fine if time allows; plan a nearby spot or wear layers for quick swaps.
  • Weather: sprinkle/drizzle is okay; for heavy rain or unsafe temps we’ll reschedule at no charge.

After

  • 72-hour preview (a handful of favorites) delivered online.
  • Full gallery in 2–3 weeks (busy season up to 4), downloadable in high-res with print rights.
  • Light, natural retouching is included (flyaways, minor blemishes). We keep you looking like you—just on your best day.

Portrait FAQ

How many images will we receive?

For a 60-minute session, expect 40+ final images, all edited in our clean, timeless style. Final Image Count Determined by Session Type.

Can we change outfits?

Yes—one change works great if we plan a quick swap nearby or layer pieces for fast variety.

What if the weather turns?

Light cloud cover is great. For heavy rain, high winds, or unsafe temps, we’ll reschedule at no charge to the next available date.

Where do we shoot?

We’ll recommend locations that match your vibe (urban, park, water, studio). If a site needs a permit, we’ll flag it in advance.

Do you retouch?

Yes—natural retouching (stray hairs, minor blemishes, lint). We don’t do body-morphing; the goal is “you, on your best day.”

Do we get RAW files?

No. Your gallery includes high-resolution edited JPEGs with print rights, ready to share and print.

Pets or kids?

Absolutely. Bring treats, a favorite toy, and a helper if possible. We’ll keep things relaxed and fun.

When will we see photos?

Preview within 72 hours; full gallery in 2–3 weeks (busy season up to 4).
